imago vita photography workshop : round 3

We hosted our third photography workshop a little over a week ago and I wanted to share some images from the day. It was held in the absolutely fabulous studio space of my friend Ashley of Under the Sycamore. She was so kind to kick her chickens out of the space for the day to let us girls hang out.

It was a ten hour workshop packed full of lots and lots of learning. The day starts with a classroom setting going over tons of information like: contracts, marketing, brand identity, balancing home life with photog life, gear, workflow, natural light, off camera lights, photoshop and lightroom just to name a few things.

Then the attendants get to start shooting and practicing off camera lights as the fabulous Loren from the Vintage Comb does hair and makeup for our model.

Angelyn and Justin were the perfect bride and groom models for us. They were seriously adorable.......seriously! I wanted to put them in my pocket.

After the classroom portion, we headed outside to do a styled bride and groom shoot. I shot and showed our attendants how to make their subjects feel and look natural in their photos. Each attendant had a chance to also work with the models individually.

Here are a few of my favorite portraits from the shoot.

That bouquet was DELISH! So amazingly gorgeous, thanks to Anne Marie at The French Boquet.

Amy from Happily Situated was so kind to let us use her vintage sofa.

And a few shots of our fabulous attendants shooting.

There are so many to thank for sponsoring the workshop and helping this day be such a success!

workshop excitement

Multitasking has been the name of the game for me lately. Editing a beautiful wedding, booking boudoir appointments, designing new marketing and print materials with my new branding, working on a new website design, shooting engagement sessions, filling print orders, designing wedding albums, making a workshop workbook, putting together all of the behind the scenes details for my workshop all while running a household and caring for my husband and kiddos. Thank God for coffee!

I am getting more and more excited for our upcoming May 6th workshop. I absolutely love the part of my job where I am shooting, but it is just so wonderful when I get to share my journey and impart knowlege onto other budding photographers. It is probably one of my very favorite things in this world.

If you are feeling kind of stuck and wanting to get your business off of the ground this is perfect for you. We go over a TON of information that will give you the tools that you need for success. Plus we get to eat really yummy food and photograph beautiful models in a styled shoot. One lucky attendant will go home with a brand new Jesscia Claire shootsac. You can see all of the details here.

There are still a few spots left for this so, shoot me an email of you are interested at

And just for fun, here is a pic of myself and some of my fabulous workshop attendants shooting our models last September. This time I won't have to lug around a big pregnant belly. ;)

imago vita workshop {the shoot}

Well, Saturday was the big day. We pulled off our first workshop and I have to say that the day was nothing short of absolutely amazing. All thirteen attendants were dripping with talent and inspiration. It was such an honor to sit in the same room as these women and share my journey with them.

I have so many people to thank because I most certainly did not pull this thing off by myself. First, I want to thank all of the woman who came from near and far to spend the day with me. We had some ladies from Colorado, Texas, North Dakota and Atoka Oklahoma just to name a few. So many of these women trusted me because they were referred to me by my sweet friend Ashley. My lovely friend Loren opened up her beautiful home and property to all of us as well as did a rocking job on our model's hair and makeup. My second shooter Jessie was there all day assisting us all with whatever we needed. Kathie from Just a Bite did a magnificent job on the catering. Anne Marie from The French Bouquet provided us with a gorgeous bouquet. Color Inc. provided all of my attendants with discounts and a giveaway. Our lovely models Brittani and Jason spent half of their Saturday with us and looked absolutely stunning.

And I cannot forget to thank my amazing family for putting up with me all of the days leading up to this. My cup is truly running over. I am surrounded by such amazing people in my life. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

I will share more behind the scenes photos later on but I wanted to go ahead and show you my photos from the shoot portion of the day. There was a crazy thunderstorm all day long during our classroom portion and I was so worried about how we were going to pull off the shoot portion. So, we prayed. The clouds and the rain departed and the Lord gave us a perfect day.

I mean seriously, I think we hit the jackpot with our models. Can we say HOTness! Disclaimer: Brittani and Jason are not models in real life. They are really married and really drenched in love for one another. ;)
