favorite photos {my wedding}
Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 6:00AM After hearing some amazingly talented photographers share their stories and their tips for success with us at WPPI I have been doing a ton of thinking. I have been thinking about what photos of my own mean the most to me and why.
If I could only have one photo or better yet one series of photos of my wedding day, it would most definitely be the images from my first look. Not only do they tell a story but they take me right back to how I felt in that moment and they make me cry every single time I see them.
Here is a little background: At first, I really did not want to do a first look on my wedding day. I had it in my mind that it would be more meaningful if he saw me for the first time I walked down the aisle. We got married on the beach and really wanted a sunset wedding and decided that was more important to us than having natural light left after our ceremony for all of our photos. So....we gave in and did a first look.
I could not be happier that we made that decision.
Nathan's face in these next four photos tell the story of what our entire wedding day was like for me. He turned around to see his bride, the woman that he had chosen to spend the rest of his life with and was moved to the depth of his soul.
I have never felt more treasured or more beautiful in my life as I did in that moment. It was as if our lives before that moment didn't even exist. This moment was the beginning of a new life as one.
I will be forever grateful to our photographers Kim and Tracy. They both far exceeded any of our hopes for what wedding photos could be.
My only prayer is that I can somehow do the same thing for my brides and grooms.

WOW...that was amazing to see! I'm completely exhausted so emotions are high and thank for that great tear jerker...now I'm just flat our bawling!! That was honestly one of the best "first looks" ever. Nathan's face is priceless...and you Shannon are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! What an amazing day it must had been.

Oh my gosh Shannon. My heart welled up with emotion seeing these. Absolutely priceless. Not very often pictures can capture that much emotion. So sweet!

Emotions in check until I saw these pics, then IMMEDIATE tears...I love you both so much! My son is so handsome and my daughter in law is so beautiful!!!
Immediate tears. I remember this day vividly and these pics show so much emotion. I remember telling you that you had pure joy on your face that day. Nathan is so handsome and you are so beautiful. I love you both so much. Thanks for sharing the memories.

ahhhhh girl - made me cry all over again... aside from my own wedding, yours is still my favorite! I love you guys so much - thank you so much for capturing our day for us, I am so moved by God's amazing provision through that whole experience! :)
