my kind of snow
Friday, January 29, 2010 at 8:53AM As we wait for the snow to start coming down I thought it would be fun to share with you what "real snow" looks like. I know that we got a pretty hefty dose of it hear in Tulsa this Christmas but it always makes me laugh to see how Oklahoma natives react to "winter weather". I am from Michigan and "real snow" was what came along with winter. I loved it. I have so many wonderful memories of playing outside in the beautiful snow.
This is often what I would see when I looked outside during the months of November-February.

And here are some photos of little me growing up with snow.

Beautiful! I'm a Tulsa girl, born and bred, but after getting married, my husband and I lived for "one and a half winters" up in Minnesota before moving back to Tulsa (back for me; my husband is a Chicago native). We were laughing our heads off when everyone kept calling our last snow storm here the "blizzard" because it's nothing like up in Minnesota! I'm glad to be in Tulsa, though, where we get little bits of snow every winter, but then it goes away after a couple of days (usually), and we get those awesome days sprinkled in where the weather climbs up to the 60s and 70s. Now that's what I call winter. ;) (Love your blog, btw.)
The winters in Michigan, with all the snow, is hard for people to imagine, especially if they have never experienced it. A week ago we had a so-called "winter blizzard" here in Arizona. Snow up in the mountains and rain down here in Tucson. We did have high winds along with the rain, but it made me chuckle. Winter Bizzard - they have no idea!! I remember going out and playing in the snow when I was little and I know we got more snow than when you were small. The pics are so cute, brings back so many memories of my little girl growing up. I remember you coming in the house all covered with snow and shaking out your wet coat, scarf, & mittens. Of course, we had to hang them up to dry by the wood stove! Thanks for the posting honey.
Love you lots,
Momma
